Tournament Setup

12 min readEvents

Tournaments let you run competitive bracket events for your organization. This guide covers creating tournaments, configuring divisions and pools, managing team registrations, and running brackets.

Creating a New Tournament

Navigate to Tournaments in the admin sidebar. Click the New tournament button to begin setting up your event.

1

Navigate to Tournaments

Open the Tournaments section in the admin sidebar and click New tournament to open the creation form.

2

Enter a tournament name

Provide a descriptive name in the Tournament Name field, such as "Spring Pickleball Classic 2026". This name appears on the public tournament page and in registration lists.

3

Select the sport

Choose the sport from the Sport dropdown. The list is populated from your organization's configured sports.

4

Set the start and end dates

Use the date pickers to define the tournament's start and end dates. These dates determine when the event runs and are displayed on the public tournament page.

5

Configure entry fee and max teams

Set the Entry Fee (per-team) for the tournament. You can also set a Max Teams limit to cap registration. Both fields are optional.

6

Save the tournament

Click Create to save the tournament. You will be redirected to the management page where you can configure divisions, pools, and brackets.

Cloning saves time

If you run a recurring event, use the Clone from Existing Tournament option on the create page to copy divisions, pools, and pricing from a previous tournament.

Tournament Structure: Divisions, Pools, and Brackets

Tournaments are organized into a hierarchy that gives you flexibility over how teams compete. Understanding this structure helps you plan your event effectively.

  • Divisions — Organize teams by skill level, age group, or category. Each division runs independently with its own pools and brackets.
  • Pools — Within each division, group teams for round-robin pool play. Pool results determine seeding for the elimination bracket.
  • Brackets — Single or double elimination brackets are generated from pool results. Winners advance through rounds until a champion is determined.

Managing Teams and Registrations

  • Teams register through the public tournament page, which displays event details and a registration button.
  • The Teams & Registrations tab on the management page shows all registered teams and their status.
  • Admins can approve or reject registrations and assign teams to divisions from this tab.

Registration visibility

Teams see the public tournament page with details, schedule, and a registration button. Registration opens automatically based on the tournament status.

Running the Tournament

  • Generate brackets from the Bracket Overview tab once all teams are assigned to divisions and pools.
  • Click individual matches to enter scores as games are completed.
  • Winners advance automatically through elimination rounds based on match results.
  • The bracket visualization updates in real-time as scores are entered.

Bracket generation

Once brackets are generated, adding or removing teams may require regenerating the bracket. Make sure all teams are registered and assigned before generating.
